Norman McLaren's Neighbours
Norman McLaren uses a technique called Pixilation (stop-motion using actors as objects) in this boundary-pushing anti-war animation.
See the below film on the lo-tech but ingenius way he made the sound for Neighbours. This film generally investigates the notion of seeing sound. McLaren and other film makers like Mary Ellen Bute explored this notion in many of their films.
Look on the same YouTube page at McLarens other films.
